Award-winning American playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis places us in a fictional court room in purgatory. A court room that feels like a church. We find Judas Iscariot on trial. Many historical and Biblical characters make an appearance to debate and testify. We hear many sides of the argument. A familiar story unfolds but not like you’ve heard it before. We invite you to step into the mind of Guirgis as he wrestles with a time shortly after September 11th. A play published in 2006 during George W. Bush’s Presidency. A time of fear, uncertainty, and the hope for a brighter more peaceful tomorrow.
Come experience the trial of a lifetime with an open mind and an open heart. This play does what great theatre can. It leaves us unsettled. It invites us to question and contemplate. It invigorates us to discuss long after the curtain comes down.
