Join us as we explore the environmental, social, and economic impacts of our food systems through the Food Justice Workshop. We will supply an opportunity for students to reflect on how food has shaped their lives and the lives of those around them. This workshop will provide background on food justice as a subset of environmental justice, describing what this movement is and its pillars of availability, access, utilization, agency, and sustainability. We will describe the status quo of food justice both nationally and locally, illuminating the roles of colonization, racism, and classism. Additionally, this workshop will allow students to create their own action plans to tackle food injustice in their lives, on campus, and in our Linda Vista Community.
The Food Justice Workshop will take place on March 14th from 12:30-1:30 in the Learning Commons 101. Lunch will be provided and this event will count for one career readiness point. We look forward to seeing you there!
