LGBTQ+ Wellness Week strives to center the importance of well being and invites students to explore their well being holistically by offering programs and outreach that touch upon physical, mental, behavioral, and spiritual health. It also aims to validate and uplift the unique needs and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community at USD.

Monday, 3/28:

  • Sweet Talk: Queer Your Mind - Hosted by the Center for Inclusion & Diversity (CID), 12-2pm, Plaza de San Diego - Sweet Talk is a monthly event that the CID hosts, with an emphasis on coming together, meeting new and old friends, enjoying tasty confections, and engaging in a variety of discussion topics and activities.

Tuesday, 3/29:

  • Queer Crafting & Convo - Hosted by the LGBTQ+ Commons, 12:30-2pm, SLP 3rd Floor Courtyard - Join us for a relaxing afternoon of crafting and community conversation. We will be making air dry faux succulent plant hangers -and folks will have the option of molding their own planter, painting a pre-made one, or both -- all supplies will be provided. Lunch will also be provided.
  • Healthy Queer Love Workshop - Hosted by the Center for Health & Wellness Promotion, 6-7:30pm, SLP 422 - We invite LGBTQ+ students to join us for a conversation on what it means to engage in healthy queer love in all types of relationships we have! Food will be provided.
  • SPECTRUM Faith Sharing Group - Hosted by University Ministry, 12:45-1:45pm, SLP 424 - SPECTRUM is a small faith-sharing group for the LGBTQIA+ community and those exploring their gender and sexual identities. The group spends time in community exploring the intersections between faith & identity. Along the way, we hope to share the messiness and joy of becoming more authentically ourselves!
  • QPR Training - Hosted by Student Wellness, 12:30-1:30pm, SH 217 (Register here.) Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR is for our whole community to get trained in — students, staff, faculty, and administrators — and it is important for members across our community to be trained to spot the early warning signs of suicide and to apply QPR.

Wednesday, 3/30:

  • Queering up Mental Wellness with Shannon Franklin - Hosted by USD Counseling Center, 7-8pm, SLP 424 - For queer students interested in developing community, enhancing their mental health, and radiating queer pride!
  • Mental Health Check-ins - Hosted by Student Wellness, 4-6pm, UC Forums - Show yourself some love! Stop by for a 15 minute confidential check-in with a Student Wellness professional. Free burritos and churros provided!

Feel free to stop by, grab some food and hang out or head out if you're busy. This is a time for rejuvenation, care, and visibility for out TGNBGNC USD community.
  • Trans Day of Visibility Wellness Fair - Hosted by the LGBTQ+ Commons and Student Wellness, 12:30-2pm, Plaza de San Diego - Join us to celebrate and uplift trans visibility and LGBTQ+ wellness. This fair is to celebrate the queer community at USD and raise visibility around the importance of centering well-being in our lives. The fair will include educational activities, crafting, and community resource information. Free food and giveaways!

Friday, 4/1:

  • HIV Testing - Hosted by LGBTQ+ Commons & Student Wellness, 9am-3pm, UC 107/128 - We invite you to take a proactive step in your personal wellness and join us for free, convenient, confidential HIV testing on campus. Testing will be held from 9a-3p and walk ins are welcome. We will also have a quiet, calm space to wait for results and participate in a self care activity if you so choose as this can be stressful for anyone. Food will be provided.
    • Sexual/reproductive health care, including STI testing and treatment, is available to students throughout the year at the Student Health Center. For more information, visit the Student Health Center website.
