Woman writing in a journal with the title "In Your Own Words: Citing, Paraphrasing, Synthesizing"

One of the greatest challenges graduate students often encounter is writing an academic literature review. This challenge may be particularly difficult for speakers of English as another language. Therefore, this virtual, two-part workshop is specifically designed to support international students for whom English is another language, though all graduate students are welcomed.

The first part of the workshop is an asynchronous overview of how to read for structure in an academic literature review required of graduate students across the university. The second part of the workshop is a synchronous session of real-time activities that focus on how to avoid plagiarism through developing three key skills: direct citation, effective paraphrasing with citation, and synthesizing and citation of multiple sources.
