Last year we began discussing the need for a new model to guide the evolution of our work with students, largely brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and important conversations around mental health and wellness. We want to build upon the existing work we’ve done as a campus community, anchor this model in inclusive excellence, and ensure that our work to support students’ flourishing engages and impacts students across the spectrums of identities and experiences. The task of structuring and defining this new Thriving Student Model began with a group of over 60 staff members from the Division of Student Affairs.

We have been holding workshops for faculty and staff to solicit feedback on the model in its current state. This includes identifying potential gaps in the model and understanding how to best facilitate the work moving forward. We will be holding one final workshop on Wednesday, May 24 from 12:00pm-1:00pm in Degheri 112/113. If you are interested in attending, please register using this link by May 17.

These workshops are open to any faculty or staff member. Any questions can be directed to tnovara@sandiego.edu.
