One of the opportunities identified in the Envisioning 2024 strategic plan was that USD wanted to create an environment that fosters and rewards creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. From this, the strategic initiative funding program was born.

The funding program supports teams or individual faculty, staff, students, or administrators as they pilot innovative initiatives in support of USD’s five strategic goals, as listed below. The purpose of the fund is to jump-start, but not permanently fund, initiatives for a two year time frame. The initiative must span across multiple units on campus or extend out into the community.

• Goal 3: Improving Structural and Operational Effectiveness
• Goal 4: Elevating Faculty and Staff Engagement
