The Center for Inclusion and Diversity invites you to attend the Leal-Anzaldúa Diversity Fireside Chat on Tuesday, February 28th, from 4:00-6:00 pm featuring Dr. Sarah Federman who will present her talk, "Financial Industry and Slavery".
The Leal-Anzaldúa Diversity Fireside Chat is an opportunity to showcase the diversity of scholarship of USD faculty and increase our collective appreciation for inclusive excellence. The Leal-Anzaldúa Diversity Fireside Chat is a lecture series that features the research/scholarship of USD faculty that centers around issues of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. The goal of the Leal-Anzaldúa Diversity Fireside Chat is to bring together members of our University community to engage in campus-wide conversations, elicit feedback on new and emerging scholarship, and increase our collective learning about a broad range of diverse topics. Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to present their work during the Leal-Anzaldúa Diversity Fireside Chat. The presented works could be in the form of a book talk, discussion of published work, review of preliminary findings, an art exhibit or other form of works in progress. The Leal-Anzaldúa Diversity Fireside Chat is named for scholar activists, Luis Leal and Gloria Anzaldúa. Luis Leal was a scholar of Mexican, Chicano and Latin American Literature and the Chicano experience in the United States. Gloria Anzaldúa was a scholar of Chicano Cultural Theory, Feminist Theory and Queer Theory.
Lectures are free and open to the University community and the public. Registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. For questions, please contact Kristina Garland, kgarland@sandiego.edu.
