Capacity and Preparatory Review

The purpose of the Capacity and Preparatory Review, the second stage in the reaccreditation process, is to demonstrate the university's commitment to institutional capacity. It asks if USD functions with the capacity--the purposes, integrity, stability, resources, structures, processes, and policies--to fulfill its educational purposes.

The Capacity and Preparatory Review revolves around the four WASC standards:

  • Defining institutional purposes and ensuring educational objectives;
  • Achieving educational objectives through core functions;
  • Developing and applying resources and organizational structures to ensure sustainability; and
  • Creating an organization committed to learning and improvement.

While specific content areas are included within each of the four standards, each is intended to be an integrated topic, emphasizing holistic organizational performance.

USD will submit its Capacity and Preparatory Review Report to WASC during Summer of 2010 and the Capacity and Preparatory Review Site Visit is scheduled to take place during Fall 2010.
