Implementing a results-based, comprehensive developmental program

Workshop Outcomes:
- Awareness of how the RISCA Toolkits can be used to implement a results-based comprehensive developmental school counseling programs based on the ASCA National ModelĀ® (2005)
- Hands-on exploration of four key templates (Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to gain first-hand experience in using the templates)
- Program needs assessment that easily translates into a strategic plan for school counseling
- Defining and documenting the essential counseling curriculum
- Defining and documenting roles and accountabilities, and policies and protocols
- Data gathering and reporting on student progress toward standards and on the impact of the counseling program on school reform, including Support Personnel Accountability Report Card (SPARC)
- Development of a personal district/school plan
Conference Attendance Includes:
- All RISCA Toolkits, plus updated material since their posting on the RISCA website in 2007
- Presenters:
- Dr. Karl Squier is a consultant to both education and industry, with a focus on the K-12 school counseling profession. He is advisor to the Rhode Island School Counselor Association (RISCA) and is author of the RISCA Toolkits.
- Dr. Patricia Nailor retired as Director of Counseling and Social Services in the Providence (RI) Public Schools and has been a major contributor to the success of school counseling programs in Rhode Island. She has also been named President-Elect for the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
